The Department of Music at Cornell University invites applications for a .5FTE Visiting Lecturer to act as the Interim Director of Vocal Programs for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023. The Visiting Lecturer responsibilities will include teaching a studio of 6 full-time students (or equivalent), leading a weekly studio class, auditioning new students for entry into the Lessons Program, arranging master classes for the Voice studio, evaluating supplementary submissions in voice during the admissions process, and coordinating the end-of-semester vocal program recital. The Visiting Lecturer will be the faculty sponsor for the Voice Studio, which includes overseeing the Voice lessons instructors, matching new students with appropriate instructors, and recommending and evaluating new Voice lessons instructors as needed. Minimum qualifications: Master of Music degree (Doctorate preferred) with experience leading college-level vocal programs. Proficiency with teaching classes on Zoom as well as in-person. Applications must be submitted electronically by March 1, 2021 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis with an offer being made in the month of April or May. The position starts July 1, 2021.
