Faculty Position in 
the Division of Epidemiology

The Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences (PQHS) at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School in Worcester, MA is recruiting a non-tenure eligible faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

PQHS was founded in June, 2009 and currently has over 40 faculty members distributed across 4 Divisions: Epidemiology; Biostatistics and Health Services Research; Health Informatics and Implementation Science; and Preventive and Behavioral Medicine. PQHS is also the home for the doctoral program in Clinical and Population Health Research, and of a methodology consultation and service unit, the Quantitative Methods Core. PQHS faculty are Principal Investigators on extramural grants totaling over $30 million. UMass is a collaborative and dynamic institution on a rapidly ascending trajectory. UMass has a Clinical and Translation Science Award and the Worcester campus currently receives more than $250 million dollars in annual extramural funding. PQHS is a key driver of clinical and translational research at UMass.

The applicant is expected to have a PhD in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or related health-related doctoral degree (e.g., gerontology, psychology) and extensive experience using large administrative healthcare data sources such as the Minimum Data Set, Medicare, and MarketScan data for research purposes. Areas of research of interest include: nursing home based research, aging, pharmacoepidemiologic research, drug utilization studies, and health disparities research. The ideal applicant will have strong communication skills necessary to successfully engage in the training of master’s and doctoral students. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching graduate level quantitative and methods courses in health research and experience mentoring graduate students. Collaboration skills a must. The candidate will be expected to collaborate on Dr. Kate Lapane’s NIH funded research while developing their own independently funded research program.
