The Duke University Program in Gender, Sexuality & Feminist (GSF) Studies invites applications for residential postdoctoral fellows focused on the erotics of race and coloniality for the 2021-2022 academic year. Through research, teaching, and service, the fellow will contribute to the overall work of the GSF Program. We seek candidates with interdisciplinary experience in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies, Queer Studies, Black Studies, Latinx Studies, Asian American Studies, Indigenous/Native American Studies, Subaltern Studies, and allied fields.
We welcome a variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives on the relationship among race, coloniality and sexuality, and we are especially interested in work that examines pornography, erotic labor, and sex work; Black queer and trans studies; queer of color critique; colonial and postcolonial sexual knowledge; sex law, sexual regulation, and the state; and feminist engagements with racial erotics.
Postdoctoral fellows are expected to design and teach an undergraduate course focused on the erotics of race/coloniality, participate in a faculty-graduate seminar, and work with faculty developing a research group in this area. The fellowship includes a stipend, health insurance, and office space. Applicants should have PhD in hand by July 1, 2021 and be no more than five years past the PhD.
