The EED was created in November 2015. The EED curriculum is centered around first-year engineering courses, technical communication, multi-disciplinary capstone, other specialized courses and programs, and a doctoral program in engineering education. About 4,000 undergraduate students enroll each year in the first-year engineering courses, about 900 undergraduate students in the technical communications courses, and about 100 undergraduate students in the multidisciplinary capstone courses. In Autumn 2020, approximately 23 graduate students were enrolled in the engineering education doctoral program.
