University of Geneva, DQMP – Baumberger group
The ARPES group of Prof. F. Baumberger and Dr. A. Tamai at the Department of Quantum Matter Physics of the University of Geneva invites applications for a Phd position on “Precision measurements of correlated electron systems using Laser-ARPES”.
Correlated electron systems are a particularly challenging forefront of quantum matter physics. In this project, we aim at advancing the current state of the art in angle resolved photoemission (ARPES) of correlated electron systems by combining a new approach to in-situ strain tuning of quantum materials with a uniquely powerful laser-based ARPES instrument that is currently unique in Europe. The goal of the project is to induce phase transitions in correlated electron systems using uniaxial strain and to monitor the electronic structure across these phase transitions with unprecedented precision. If successful, this will break new ground in a topical and very active field.
To apply please upload your CV including contact details of two scientists that can provide references, your university grades and a brief letter of motivation at academicjobsonline.org.
The position is available from summer 2021. Applications are considered until the position is filled.
