Full- time two year position 

Position Summary: 

Dr. Lisa Gennetian, Pritzker Professor of Early Learning Policy Studies at Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy seeks a full-time post-doctoral candidate to collaborate on and provide support for two endeavors. The post-doctorate will work Dr. Gennetian on the topic of cash transfer programs in the U.S., primarily via the Baby’s First Years study, the first randomized control study of an unconditional cash transfers to low income mothers of infants and toddlers in the U.S. Second, the post-doctorate will work with Dr. Gennetian on the application of behavioral economic strategies to support family engagement in early childhood interventions and children’s development. Falling under the umbrella of the beELL initiative, this work applies insights from behavioral economics to early childhood and public health interventions and beginning in 2021 will apply these insights to the Durham Family Connects program.  

Dr. Gennetian is looking for an advanced and creative post-doctoral candidate who has interests in multi- and inter-disciplinary research as well as translating the tools of behavioral economic insights to on-the-ground program practice in the context of early childhood and public health interventions. 

The individual will have opportunities to engage in analyses of findings for the Baby’s First Years study, and serve the role of project director or co-director, collaboratively manage and actively engage in development and design of pilot interventions, and lead or co-lead execution and experimental testing of the behavioral design enhancements. Doctoral training in economics or related social science is required with training in social or applied psychology, cognitive decision making sciences or behavioral economics as a plus. Prior experience with random assignment and intervention design and research is also a plus. The candidate should be available to start work in summer 2021.
