Associate Professor Position: Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) 

The Department of Computer Science at Georgia State University invites qualified applications for a tenure-track associate professor position to support the development of research in the area of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (broadly defined) to begin Fall 2021. Applications with expertise in all areas within Trustworthy AI, including but not limited to Safe and Secure AI, Private AI, Robust and Reliable AI, Explainable AI, Human-Centered AI, Responsible AI, and Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics (FATE) in AI will be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in computer science or related discipline from a nationally accredited university or international equivalent. We are seeking candidates with established publication and national/industry funding records at the rank of Associate Professor.

GSU’s Department of Computer Science (http://www.cs.gsu.edu/), consisting of 28 research active tenure-track and 6 teaching faculty, offers programs leading to the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The Ph.D. program, which first admitted students in 2001, has produced over 150 graduates and has a current enrollment of over 100. The department’s Ph.D. program is nationally competitive and ranks among the best in the Southeast, according to National Research Council data. The M.S. program has over 120 students and offers a Security and Privacy concentration and M.S. Data Science and Analytics (Concentration in Big Data and Machine Learning). The B.S. program is the second largest in the university with over 2000 majors.

The Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence program is funded by the university’s Next Generation Faculty Program—a multi-year strategic hiring initiative designed to build core research capabilities by adding faculty excellence in interdisciplinary and innovative research areas. GSU offers an exciting and active interdisciplinary community of scholars in these areas, including those affiliated with the INformation Security and Privacy: Interdisciplinary Research and Education (INSPIRE), the Blumenfeld Center for Ethics, Center for Translational Research in Neuroimaging and Data Science (TReNDS), and the Center for Advanced Brain Imaging. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining an active, funded research agenda, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise in the Department of Computer Science.
