The University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking a psychiatrist with a career interest in Public Sector Psychiatry for a position at Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH). Successful candidates will receive a faculty appointment to facilitate teaching, and can receive all the CME and risk management credits they need without leaving the building. WRCH, a state-of-art inpatient and rehabilitation facility that opened its new hospital in October, 2012, is a short walk from the Medical School where research and teaching opportunities are easy to accommodate and are actively encouraged.

This public psychiatric hospital is unique with a person-centered, recovery-focus as a fundamental operative principle. We have worked to make this a family friendly position with a weekday schedule only. There is no required on-call, no evenings, no weekends, no nights, and no holidays. Of note, physicians can sign up for voluntary night and weekend shifts at lucrative pay. There are excellent state benefits with a pension plan. There are 13 paid holidays, 4 weeks of paid vacation, three paid conference days, 2 paid personal days, and a $3,000 annual practice allowance.

WRCH is a Department of Mental Health Hospital and the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry is contracted to provide the Professional Services.

WRCH is less than an hour from Boston and within a community that can offer reasonably priced urban, suburban and rural living opportunities well below the cost of Metropolitan Boston.
