INTRODUCTION      

The Department of Statistics at the University of Connecticut is pleased to invite applications for a Lecturer position. The position is suitable for candidates who wish to pursue a career with an emphasis on teaching and continued growth in that direction.  The primary duty location is the Stamford Campus of the University. The Department is a highly active center of teaching, research, and service with local, national, and international presence.  It is a founding member of the New England Statistical Society, for which it houses the administration. 

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills and a strong commitment to instruction, advising, and mentoring.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A MA/MS in statistics, biostatistics, or data science or a MA/MS in a related discipline, e.g., mathematics, mathematics education, economics and other social sciences, with at least 12 credits of coursework in theoretical and applied statistics at the graduate level, is acceptable; a superior record of teaching undergraduate courses, both methodological and applied; experience with educational technologies like Blackboard and online homework systems and in teaching and coordinating large lectures.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position that has the possibility of leading to a multi-year contract. Normal duties include a teaching load of 18-21 credits per year, or the equivalent.   The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Stamford campus. The position has an anticipated start date of August 23, 2021.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
