The Woo Center for Big Data and Precision Health in the Pratt School of Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to lead efforts on genomic and machine learning research. 

The Data Scientist will develop and implement analytical pipelines for genomic and clinical data, performing the work to meet milestones for funding agencies, and solicit new funding opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic new center focused on the intersection of big data and precision health, and help move science from the laboratory into clinical practice. 

Work Performed:
  • Identify prospective research partners, and prospect pipeline development;
  • Manage collaborative partnerships; serve as central point of contact for program;
  • Generate reports for internal use and for communication with partners;
  • Participate in meetings with private and commercial research sponsors;
  • Contribute to intellectual property development and prosecution;
  • Potential for leading in-house research;
  • Manage logistics for grant proposal and article submissions with an emphasis on technical grant writing and manuscript editing;
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. 

  • Ph.D. in a computational biology or related field
  • Experience in genomic and epigenomic bioinformatics analyses
  • Knowledge in biostatistical methods. Knowledge in machine a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to mentor junior researchers
