Digital Electronics Engineer Application deadline: 5/20/21 Professor David Smith’s laboratory currently seeks a digital electronics engineer for a satellite antenna research project. An advanced degree in electrical (or other) engineering, physics, or math is required. Primary responsibilities will include designing digital circuits to control antennas. Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: printed circuit boards (PCBs), microwave circuits, Python, and FPGA programming. A background in antenna design, radar, computational imaging or related topics is also helpful. The project aims to develop low-cost microwave antennas for low earth orbit radar imaging. This aim of this antenna platform is to support a multi-satellite constellation that will be able to conduct rapid revisit synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The first phase of the program will last until early 2022, with a second phase planned to follow. Please contact Dr. David R. Smith (drsmith@duke.edu) if interested.
