Position Description: |
Department of Global Development Postdoctoral Associate Overview: The Cornell University Department of Global Development is searching for a highly motivated postdoctoral associate interested in research on priority setting for crop improvement in agriculture. The position will be supporting The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Crop Improvement (ILCI) to develop and implement an impact centered priority setting framework for crop improvement programs, provide research support to partner programs, and collaboratively develop and adapt priority setting tools and methods tailored for National Agricultural Research Institutions (NARIs) in ILCI target countries. Project Summary:
ILCI partners with scientists and stakeholders around the globe to co-develop tools, technologies and methods in crop improvement that address local concerns and focus on community impact. Our goal is to listen to NARIs as they define their own goals and drive advancement to breed resilient crop varieties that stand up to pests, diseases and climate change. We believe that if national programs play a central role in designing innovations that prioritize/target their unique needs, then these solutions will be more sustainable in the long-term. Our work fuses cutting-edge science and collaboration to make food more accessible, reliable, and responsive to the diverse needs around the globe. Anticipated Division of Time The postdoc will work with the interdisciplinary ILCI priority setting team, co-led by Hale Ann Tufan and Miguel Gomez. We are seeking a full-time researcher with an agricultural economics background to primarily support ILCI Centers of Innovation (CoIs) to: Framework development (50%)
