Full Time PostBac/Associate in Research opportunity in the study of morphogenesis, Kiehart Lab, Duke University
Job Title: Associate in Research
Start date: Open
Position duration: At least a one-year commitment is required, two years preferred.
Are you interested in how sheets of cells move, change shape and fuse during development? Or how wounds heal? The Kiehart lab studies cell sheet morphogenesis, an essential process for metazoan development and wound healing. We investigate the dorsal closure stage of Drosophila embryogenesis as a model system to understand this biologically important tissue movement that is conserved across phylogeny. Our work employs an unusually diverse repertoire of interdisciplinary approaches, including high-resolution microscopy, genetic, bioinformatic, biophysical and biochemical strategies to interrogate the mechanics of closure and its regulation in wild type and mutant embryos. https://kiehartlab.biology.duke.edu
We seek a motivated and enthusiastic research technician to join our team and contribute at all levels of our ongoing research. Duties may include standard lab maintenance, fly husbandry and genetics, general molecular biology techniques, microscopy, and data analysis. Significant laboratory research experience is required, experience with Drosophila is a plus. The successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, communication and organizational skills and ability to work well within a team. Please start the filename of your cover letter and CV with your last name, and please ensure at least one of your references is from a direct laboratory supervisor.
