Position Description:    

The Randles Lab has an opening for a Research Scientist in Research for Computational Modeling and Software Development. We seek a highly motivated individual to pursue software engineering work in a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The HARVEY project is using large-scale supercomputers and cloud computing to enable personalized blood flow simulation. The Randles Lab is a part of the Aurora Early Science Program and has a large DOE INCITE proposal providing time on some of the biggest supercomputers in the world. We are seeking a Biofluids Software Developer to contribute toward efforts aimed at enhancing, expanding, and improving the software infrastructure of the project, including integration with cloud-based infrastructures, user interface experience, user interactions, data production, and data analytics pipelines. Successful applicants should have a background in physics-based modeling, C programming, the development of data analytics pipelines, and parallel programming.

The incumbent will be part of a team that drives the HARVEY project in new and exciting directions as the number and diversity of our applications grow. You will play an important role in an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, physicists, biomedical engineers, and clinicians.

What You Will Do:

-Utilize and improve the HARVEY production environment

-Develop workflows within this environment to automate and enable streamlined personalized flow simulations

-Develop workflows for seamless integration with cloud providers and on prem systems

-Develop/extend software infrastructure tools to improve HARVEY backend and data handling

-Collaborate with computational scientists, clinicians, and other researchers

-Improve and maintain code documentation and interactive environments

Candidates should have experience in scientific high-performance computing and collaborative software development. BS, MS or PhD degree preferred in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or another related field.
