Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The School of Psychology is seeking to make two permanent, full-time appointments in the Lecturer to Senior Lecturer range.

The area of content specialisation for these positions is Clinical Psychology and we welcome applications from individuals who have specialist research knowledge and practice experience as clinical psychologists in this area.

The University has an excellent research culture and the School of Psychology is recognised as being within the top echelon of psychology departments in New Zealand. The School hosts research laboratories in many of psychology's specialty areas: cognition, learning, social, cross-cultural, developmental, behavioural pharmacology, neuropsychology, clinical, and forensic psychology. It is also home to the Victoria Psychology Clinic.

Importantly, the School of Psychology has a strong commitment to equity and diversity, and specifically to bicultural practice in research and teaching consistent with the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an energetic clinical psychology group with international research and teaching expertise within a world-leading university, and to do the following: •Contribute to the School's research, ideally complementing existing research concentrations across the School •Add to the School's existing strengths in teaching at the undergraduate level with a focus on clinical psychological science •Contribute to postgraduate clinical training through teaching and supervising clinical psychological science and the practice of clinical psychology (assessment and intervention) informed from a scientist-practitioner perspective

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who have practice and/or research expertise with adult populations for these roles, but the positions are open to all domains of clinical psychology.

The School has established expertise in the areas of child, adult, and forensic clinical psychology. We invite candidates whose expertise/research complements and/or adds to these.

The preferred applicant will have the following: •A PhD in psychology, a recognised postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology, practice experience as a qualified clinical psychologist, and be eligible for registration as a clinical psychologist in New Zealand •A developing research and publication record •Experience in post-graduate teaching and clinical supervision. •A strong commitment to open science practices •A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and diversity

Candidates from Māori/Pasifika backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology Programme aims to produce high-quality practitioners and scholars whose training is founded on the interacting principles of clinical psychological science and Bicultural Tikanga.
