The Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) is seeking exceptional candidates for the JQI Postdoctoral Fellowship in Experimental Quantum Physics. JQI Experimental Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to work in close collaboration with one or more JQI Fellows. The successful applicant will have the freedom to work on a variety of research topics.
Quantum information science utilizes many different experimental platforms. At JQI, researchers specialize in degenerate gases, trapped ions, quantum optics, and superconducting systems. Applicants are encouraged to explore the JQI website (jqi.umd.edu) and to contact JQI Fellows to inquire about current research interests. Research may be carried out at the University of Maryland, College Park or at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD.
The term of appointment is two years at a salary of $71,000 per year plus benefits and a small stipend for research expenses. The deadline for the experimental fellowship application is Dec. 31, 2021.
JQI is a research partnership between the University of Maryland (UMD) and NIST, with the support and participation of the Laboratory for Physical Sciences. Created in 2006 to pursue theoretical and experimental studies of quantum physics in the context of information science and technology, JQI is located on UMD's College Park campus.
UMD actively subscribes to a policy of equal employment opportunity, and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, age, sex, color, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, ancestry or national origin, marital status, genetic information, or political affiliation.
