Postdoctoral Associate

The department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University School of Medicine is recruiting a postdoctoral research associate to conduct research in single-cell and spatial genomics. The candidate will be jointly supervised by Drs. Cliburn Chan, Zhicheng Ji and Anru Zhang. Successful candidate will develop novel statistical and computational methods to identify the spatial locations and gene expression profiles of rare cell types in spatial transcriptomics data and integrate the spatial transcriptomics data with single-cell multi-omics data to infer spatial gene regulatory programs. The candidate will be responsible for benchmarking the performance of the new and existing methods, applying the methods to real datasets, and conveying the results to collaborators. There are also opportunities for theoretical work in high-dimensional statistics within the context of this project.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, or a related field. Candidates with experience in high-dimensional statistics or computer vision are especially welcomed to apply. The initial term for the appointment is two years with the possibility of extensions. This position is part of a large research initiative, and the successful candidate will join a team of faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students collaborating to create new methods for the analysis of single-cell, spatial, and other omics datasets.
