Engineering Management Executive in Residence - Management

The Duke School of Engineering (Pratt) at Duke University invites applications for a Non-Regular Rank Executive in Residence position in the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program.

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Teach 4 courses each year within the MEM curriculum or other Pratt programs as applicable.

• Collaborate across department and school boundaries.

• Connect and engage with industry partners regarding capstone projects, career opportunities, seminar discussions, and participation in an industrial advisory board.

• Assist program Director with various program management areas particularly:

a) Faculty engagement: Help promote a sense of faculty community, faculty collaboration on co-curricular activities and curricular activities.

b) Student experience: Participation in activities such as admissions, orientations, academic advising and graduations.

c) Strategic engagement: Partner with MEM ED and representatives of MEM Community in implementing MEM’s Vision 2027.

• Contribute to the engineering master programs in other areas as needed

Ideal candidates should have relevant experience and a track record of helping individuals, particularly in science & technology fields learn concepts and practice skills that will enable them to transition from being an individual contributor to managing and leading others as a business professional. The candidate should demonstrate competence in areas such as understanding of management and leadership; developing awareness of own management and leadership styles; building and practicing competencies essential for team success; and helping individuals become ethical leaders above reproach. They will also have a PhD in engineering, psychology, or a related field (or commensurate industry leadership experience plus a master’s degree). Prior teaching experience in a university setting is preferred but not required. Teaching/course development experience is strongly preferred. This position is expected to be full time, but other levels of commitment may be considered.
