The Department of Surgery, Duke University School of Medicine, in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking candidates for the position of Division Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Candidates should be recognized clinician-scientists with a history of external peer-reviewed research funding, an active clinical practice and experience in both strategic and operational planning in an academic setting. Candidates should have strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to develop collaborative organizational relationships.

Vascular surgery at Duke has a long reputation of excellence in the treatment of vascular disease, which affects millions of people each year. The Duke Center for Vascular Diseases offers a multidisciplinary approach along with the latest diagnostic and treatment strategies, and cutting-edge research trials.

The Division is on the forefront of new developments and technology relating to all aspects of vascular disease. Clinical and basic research in the vascular surgery division includes the study of:

- Novel therapies for vascular and cardiovascular surgery - Thrombosis related to surgical procedures - Clinical inhibitors of blood coagulation proteases - The immune response to biologics used in surgery - The study of vascular biology and cellular differentiation of vascular tissue - Proteolytic and cell mediated regulation of blood coagulation - Inflammatory mediated thrombosis - Development of bioengineered blood vessel

The Duke Vascular Surgery Division is supported by a long tradition of excellence in education within the Department of Surgery at Duke.
