Chapman University seeks applications for a non-tenure track
Instructor or Assistant Professor position in virtual production for its nationally recognized Dodge College of Film and Media Arts
beginning August 2022.

Qualifications
|
MFA or
other terminal degree in film, animation, games, computer science, or a related
field is preferred but not
essential, or significant relevant professional experience in virtual
production.
We invite applications from outstanding candidates
with diverse research and teaching perspectives based on non-traditional educational
backgrounds.
|
The ideal
candidate will have professional and teaching experience in one or more
areas, including but not limited
to:
-Expertise
in and ability to teach software and other tools currently used in virtual
production including Unreal Engine.
-Professional
industry experience in Virtual Production including Motion Capture technology,
VFX and Physical Production.
-2D and 3D
animation and production; modeling, rigging and lighting; visual effects
production; game design/development; motion capture.
-Experience in
multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Required:
Experience in virtual production on an LED
volume stage
Advanced knowledge of on-set digital
acquisition hardware.
Advanced knowledge of all motion
capture hardware techniques, and on-set pipelines.
Knowledge of game engine and
game-related technologies.
Experience in a VFX asset and shot
production pipeline.
Experience using digital content
creating software such as Maya and Unreal Engine.
Preferred:
Teaching experience.

Responsibilities
|
Faculty duties include teaching,
academic advising, and service to Dodge College and Chapman University. The teaching
load is 24 credits per academic year, in addition to continued professional work
and/or research and scholarship.
-Teach Virtual Production courses.
-Design an approach plan and/or
recommendations for virtual production requests.
-Work closely with faculty, staff, and
students to plan and execute projects including preparation of assets and
production design elements
-Assist the onsite stage team in the
virtual production needs for student productions by providing training,
mentoring and guidance on set
-Advise on equipment needs, standards
and documentation for virtual production
-Mentor undergraduate students
-Develop curriculum to align with
current and emerging industry standards
-Explore opportunities for multi-disciplinary
collaboration
-Contribute to developing a culture of equity,
diversity, and inclusion for all constituents.
