MEDIA STUDIES: GLOBAL MEDIA INDUSTRIES
As part of a recently launched Visiting Junior Scholars Program, Pitzer College aims to hire outstanding teaching faculty of special promise or distinction at an early career stage. The Media Studies Field Group seeks a full-time Junior Scholar for a two-year appointment covering the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years in media industry studies. A Ph.D. is required by the time of appointment. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in global/local, comparative studies of media industries, including film, TV, digital media, gaming, and other platforms. Desirable areas of focus include labor practices and industrial structures in media fields, as well as the influence of race, gender, sexuality, class, and other factors on the historical development of media industries. The successful candidate will teach five courses per year including an introductory course, a media history, a media theory course and additional courses in the area of the candidate’s interest and expertise.
