TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR, Chemistry Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory (UGTL), to co-teach Chemistry 5.310 – Laboratory Chemistry and Chemistry 5.301 – Chemistry Lab Techniques, including the development and implementation of new experiments for these courses, delivering lectures and demonstrating fundamental and hands-on knowledge of the experimental protocols for experiments, oversee course management including assignments and grading. Contribute to the Undergraduate Research Inspired Experimental Chemistry Alternatives (URIECA) program. Coordinate with the Director of the UGTL for day-to-day operations, including managing the 5.310 and 5.301 undergraduate laboratory and maintaining overall UGTL operations; organizing and orchestrating laboratory teaching assistant (TA) orientations, and training and mentoring laboratory teaching assistants (TAs), including supporting activities of TAs by providing experiment demos, lecture handouts, and specific information on experiments. Coordinate with chemistry faculty to secure undergraduate research (UROP) positions for each 5.301 student. Additional responsibilities include enforcing laboratory safety regulations, maintaining minor laboratory equipment, facilities and supplies, and major instrumentation, writing recommendation letters for students and TAs.

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field; demonstrated excellence in teaching; outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. This is a one-year term appointment with potential for renewal upon mutual agreement. Application submission will remain open until position is filled.
