The Department of Power Mechanical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan invites applications for multiple tenured and tenure-track positions at the levels of assistant, associate, and full professors. The positions are open to all research areas with special attention to Mechanical Design and Manufacturing. Other areas are also welcome.

We are searching for candidates to develop a world-leading research program in mechanical engineering or related fields. The department offers competitive salary, start-up funding, and laboratory spacing suitable for the research program. First year faculty have reduced teaching load, and salary bonuses will be awarded if the applicant has had outstanding academic records. Faculty members are expected to lead various independent and collective research projects working with undergraduate and graduate students. 

 

We aim to assist young scientists in growing their academic careers as well as welcome established scientists with necessary resources. The department is ranked in the  top 100 Mechanical Engineering programs in the QS World University Rankings. The department has tight connections to Hsinchu Science Park and the Industrial Technology Research Institute in Taiwan. The research funding of the department is around $7 million USD annually. Besides research support, National Tsing Hua University provides on campus housing and other related benefits.

 

We emphasize knowledge and culture exchange between various backgrounds, collaboration with international research groups is therefore highly encouraged. Current faculty members have received their academic training from universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and Taiwan. Half of the undergraduate courses are taught in English, so applicants preparing to teach in English are eligible.  

 

The due date is July 13, 2022. Application received before the due date will be considered for the position starting on February 1, 2023.  Any application received after the due date will be considered for the next reviewing cycle.

7.      Transcripts or academic records of both undergraduate and graduate studies. This is optional for applicants interested in associate or full professor positions.

8.     A statement of teaching interests with course outlines. Applicants with teaching experience are welcome to provide course evaluation results. 

9.      A statement of research interests and plans.

10.  Other materials that help demonstrate the application’s accomplishments such as certificates, awards, and patents.
