INTRODUCTION The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor-in-Residence level. This position is a 9-month appointment with an anticipated start date of 8/23/2022 (with the possibility of renewal) and is based at the Hartford campus. The position is suitable for candidates with teaching experience who wish to pursue a career with an emphasis on undergraduate teaching with continued growth in this direction. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching both the laboratory and lecture sections of the general biology lecture and laboratory course Principles of Biology 1 (BIOL 1107). Other teaching may involve courses from the 2000 sequence of Molecular and Cell Biology (see https://mcb.uconn.edu/courses/) and writing-intensive courses focused on topics relevant to cell and molecular biology. Candidates with additional experience teaching Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and/ or Genetics are particularly encouraged to apply. The teaching load will be 7 three-credit courses, or the equivalent, per year. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, developing success and retention strategies for biology courses, and possible service to the campus, Department, or University. Candidates are not expected to maintain an active research program but will be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their activities the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and contribute to the development of pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests. APPOINTMENT TERMS This position is a full-time, nine (9)-month appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2022. The position may be annually renewable based on performance, budget, and needs of the Department and College. The salary minimum will be $60,000 with possible flexibility depending on the candidate. The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the Hartford campus.
