Position Description

Bethe/Wilkins/KIC Postdoctoral Fellowship in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

Cornell University's Laboratory of Atomic and Solid State Physics is soliciting applications for the Bethe/Wilkins/KIC Postdoctoral Fellowship in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. This prize fellowship is designed to attract the best and brightest young theoretical physicists to work with theorists and experimentalists in Cornell's Physics department, and in the larger Cornell community. Our group has broad interests in hard and soft condensed matter physics, including (but not limited to): cold atom physics, biophysics, statistical physics, hydrodynamics, electronic structure theory, materials science, strongly correlated electrons, quantum information, machine learning, computational physics and superconductivity.

While this fellowship targets theorists, experimentalists are encouraged to consider the KIC Postdoctoral Fellowships for nanoscience.

We actively encourage applications from diverse and historically underrepresented candidates.

Please submit a CV, publication list, and a 1-3 page research statement to Academic Jobs Online. Applicants should arrange to have three letters of reference uploaded to their application, one of which should be from the candidate's PhD adviser. Application review begins September 24th, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Applications received by September 24th, 2022 may also be considered for sponsorship for the Klarman Fellowship. (The Klarman Fellowship is administrated separately, and a further application will be required.)

This position is supported in part by the Hans Bethe Postdoctoral Fellowship, the John Wilkins Postdoctoral Fellowship, and by the Kavli Institute at Cornell. Bethe/Wilkins/KIC fellows receive lifetime membership in the Society of Cornell Fellows, along with KIC and Klarman Fellows.
