THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

Applications are invited for appointment as Part-time Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in the Master of Arts in Creative Communications programme (The MACC) in the School of English (Ref.: 515715), to commence on September 1, 2022 for four months.

With an emphasis on language and discourse, and rooted in prestigious research and practice at HKU, the MACC welcomes emerging professionals to expand their global footprint and leadership in creative impact. The MACC uniquely opens out creative foundations and futures of professional advancement, whether in an individual or collaborative project, such as a film or memoir; app development or architecture, for example. Participants in the programme will have highly defined opportunities to join forces and cross-fertilizing knowledge among those in the creative sector locally and worldwide. The MACC recognizes the shout-out for sharpening the power and impact of an emerging and growing professional project. We recognize the 21st century demand for flexibility, which has landed, paradoxically, deeply inside one of the oldest roots of human inquiry: the history and practice of creativity and impact.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in a relevant discipline, with ideally at least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification teaching experience, or with a relevant proven track record instead.  Those with interest and lesser teaching experience may be considered for Assistant Lecturer.

The position is open to those working in the field of Communications/Media with a cutting edge focus, widely, on “creativity”, or on what Robert Austin is recently calling “artful making” in the field: namely an emphasis on the intersection of knowledge and art with business. As Austin puts it, “As business becomes more dependent on knowledge to create value, work becomes more like art.”  The appointee will teach one MACC course on creative perspective in the context of media/business/arts.

For further details, including information about the School’s research profile can be found at http://www.english.hku.hk and in the area of creative communications and media at The HKU Guild: www.hkuguild.com.  Please note that the School is not involved in ESL teaching.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.

The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online at the University’s careers site (https://jobs.hku.hk) and upload a cover letter, an up-to-date C.V. with a teaching statement of up to two pages.  Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until August 5, 2022 or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.

The University is committed to diversity and inclusivity. The Faculty of Arts expressly encourages qualified persons from all genders to apply.

We are not accepting applications for this job through AcademicJobsOnline.Org right now. Please see the job description above on how to apply.
