The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2023. Completion of Ph.D. is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.

The successful candidate will be a specialist in Colonial Latin American Literature. Preference will be given to candidates whose scholarship has a trans-Atlantic or trans-Pacific perspective. Teaching responsibilities include Spanish language and literature courses from the introductory to the advanced seminar level. The successful candidate will fulfill the expectation that all Colgate faculty participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. The position offers the possibility of joining the rotation for directing Colgate’s semester-long program of study in Madrid, Spain, and for active participation in interdisciplinary programs such as Africana and Latin American Studies, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Women’s Studies, and LGBTQ Studies.
