Faculty Positions in Bioengineering Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Cornell University

The Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in Bioengineering. Candidates must hold a doctorate in an appropriate field and are expected to establish an outstanding, funded research program as well as to contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate instruction. Applicants at all levels will be considered. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We seek outstanding individuals engaged in all aspects of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with a particular interest in Bioengineering. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, however particular attention will be paid to applicants with overlap with Cornell Radical Collaborations (http://provost.cornell.edu/academic-initiatives/radical-collaboration/) such as digital agriculture, genome biology, infection biology, nanoscale science and molecular engineering, and data science. Additional areas of interest include orthopaedics, reproductive biomechanics, multi-scale biomechanics, immunoengineering, biomaterials, and engineered living materials.

Cornell has a long history of excellence at the interface between bioengineering, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Many faculty engage in bioengineering research in collaboration across the Engineering College, with Cornell hospitals, with the Veterinary School, and with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The recently launched Cornell-HSS Biomechanics program through the Center for Advanced Materials and Engineering in Orthopaedics (CAMEO) (https://hsscameo.engineering.cornell.edu/) affords its members an opportunity to regularly engage in multidisciplinary and cutting edge collaborations that bridge the gap between basic science and clinical translation. In addition, Cornell fosters interdisciplinary research and an atmosphere of interdisciplinary collaborations through its Centers and Field system and multidisciplinary centers such as the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future, Cornell Center for Material Research, the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source, and the Engineering Living Materials Initiative. Cornell also offers opportunities for entrepreneurship and commercialization of technologies developed by faculty through the Cornell Center for Technology Licensing and local incubators such as the McGovern Center for Venture Development.

The Sibley School and the College of Engineering at Cornell embrace diversity and seek candidates who will foster a climate that attracts students of all races, nationalities and genders. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented groups in Engineering to apply. Cornell University seeks to meet the needs of dual career couples, has a Dual Career program, and is a member of the Upstate New York Higher Education Recruitment Consortium to assist with dual career searches.

Please submit an application on line at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/22584. Applications should include a complete resume; statements of research, teaching, and service; a statement of diversity, equity and inclusion; as well as the names of three references; and up to 3 publications. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2022; all applications received by this date will receive full consideration this academic year.
