POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Mathematics, within the School of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (http://www.math.ucsd.edu), is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a broad search that is open to applicants from all areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics. All positions are subject to availability of funding.

Teaching and research in mathematics, and related topics, will be expected. Ideally, the candidate will have skills and interest in teaching lecture courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on UC pay scales. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2023.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Currently pursuing PhD in Mathematics or related field

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field prior to first quarter of teaching

Preferred qualifications

Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.

A well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences.
