The Department of Physics and Astronomy (https://physics.northwestern.edu/index.html) at Northwestern University is inviting applications for a full-time faculty position in condensed matter theory with a focus on applications in quantum information science (QIS). The department seeks a theorist who will contribute to the ongoing expansion in solid-state based quantum technology, including (but not limited to) quantum computing, simulation, and sensing.

Applicants should have a strong record of achievement in research, a well-conceived plan for continuing investigations, and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. Candidates should be able to work with, teach, and mentor diverse groups of individuals, and to contribute to efforts to promote the diversity of the campus, curriculum, and discipline. Primary target is the recruitment at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. More senior candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered for the rank of Associate Professor. The intended starting date for this position is September 1, 2023.

Qualifications A Ph.D. in physics or applied physics is required.
