Chapman
University's nationally recognized Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seeks
applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in broadcast
journalism beginning August 2023. The
broadcast journalism program is part of the B.F.A. in Broadcast Journalism
and Documentary, in which students learn the art of reporting and shaping
non-fiction stories for broadcast.

Qualifications
|
A master’s degree is
required. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
Candidates should have significant experience
working in national and/or local television newsrooms, as well as on digital
and social media platforms. The successful candidate will have produced
significant work that has achieved national and industry recognition.
We seek candidates
with multimedia journalism experience who can teach students the storytelling
skills needed today: videography, editing, social media, cross platform
writing. Candidates should have a
strong background in journalism ethics and diversity/inclusion/representation
issues.
Ideally, the successful candidate will also have a
solid understanding of investigative journalism as well as the production
demands of field reporting and live newscast production.
The rank of
Assistant Professor is an entry-level position for a non-tenure track faculty
member who has completed his or her terminal degree in the field in which he
or she proposes to teach from a regionally accredited institution (or its
international equivalent).
For appointment to a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Associate
Professor, the successful candidate will have at least four years of
full-time teaching experience at another college or university, or extensive
professional experience judged to be equivalent to teaching. In addition, a
person appointed to the rank of Associate Professor must have demonstrated
record of accomplishment in scholarly, creative or professional activities.

Responsibilities
|
The successful candidate will
teach four courses in both the fall and spring semesters. There is no
research/scholarly/creative requirement for non-tenure track faculty.
Courses the successful
candidate might teach include an introductory class for freshmen, and a
capstone class of juniors and seniors that produces a weekly newscast seen
live on local cable, as well as other classes.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications with a range of $95,000-$105,000
