*** this program has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

The goals of this program are to strengthen the US-Japan scientific collaboration and in particular facilitate greater cooperation in the areas of accelerator and particle physics in projects of mutual benefit to Japan and the United States. The program will encourage and fund the exchange of graduate students between Japan and the United States. This program has been established in honor of the late Dr. Satoshi Ozaki.

All graduate students enrolled in US Physics PhD programs, are eligible to submit a proposal. It is expected that most students applying will be in their 2nd or 3rd year of studies in the US, but there is no hard requirement beyond being enrolled.

The proposal for research in Japan by a graduate student at a US Institution to conduct research on high energy physics and technology R&D, must be carried out at KEK including J-PARC, or HEP research groups at universities in Japan. The applicant must name a faculty or staff mentor from the hosting group. In case that the research will be conducted at university, the applicant must also name a contact person from KEK.

The Fellowship will cover travel and living expenses in Japan.
