Postdoctoral Associate, Global Food Safety Department of Food Science College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Cornell University

Position Function This position will support the mission of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Safety (FSIL). The incumbent will provide technical support to FSIL research projects, develop proposals and research projects related to emerging global food safety topics, and support FSIL’s communication and knowledge sharing efforts. The incumbent will collaborate with FSIL’s director and associate director to oversee the technical activities of research projects, which may include travel to research implementation sites, engagement in research team meetings, evaluation of lab safety protocols, and review of data and manuscripts. The individual will also contribute to the FSIL research portfolio by developing research proposals, designing small projects to address emerging food safety topics, and writing review papers. The incumbent is also expected to contribute to the technical design and ideation of webinars, blog posts, and other communication products. This is a full-time position and will be located in Ithaca, New York. This is a 1-year appointment with possible extension. Future possible extensions depend on funding and performance. Anticipated Division of Time Specific position responsibilities include (i) provide scientific support to projects funded by FSIL (30%); (ii) engage in research on global food safety, including data analyses (30%); (iii) assist with emerging FSIL program needs (30%); and (iv) contribute to FSIL communications efforts (10%). Supervision Direction will be received from Dr. Randy Worobo, Professor. Supervision Exercised Functional supervision may be exercised over graduate and undergraduate students involved in FSIL activities.
