Section of Soil and Crop Sciences The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and home to Cornell University’s second largest population of students, faculty and staff. The questions we probe and the answers we seek focus on three overlapping concerns: natural and human systems; food, energy and environmental resources; and social, physical and economic well-being. CALS is fundamentally invested in improving the lives of people, their environments and their communities both in New York State and around the world. Position: Seeking outstanding individual to assist with research and project management in the Thies Soil Ecology Laboratory. The position is located in the Section of Soil and Crop Sciences within the School of Integrative Plant Science (SIPS) at Cornell University. Research aims to strengthen understanding of the interaction between biochar particles and soil and the functionality of key soil exoenzymes. Effects of biochar on gene expression, and changes in soil bacterial and fungal communities and the enzymatic capacity of the soil community in response to biochar amendment in different soils. The incumbent will coordinate research, gather, manage and analyze data, write articles and reports, support teaching activities, and supervise undergraduate research students.
