Position Description:    

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh ( invites applications for a new faculty member in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. This appointment, which is subject to budgetary approval, will be at the Assistant Professor level and will begin with the Fall Term 2023, or thereafter.

While applications over a wide range of specialties are encouraged, the successful candidate will enhance or strategically complement existing theoretical and experimental programs in our department. There will be some preference given to applications of those working in the following areas: Quantum Physics at the Interface of Physics, Quantum Information; Statistical Physics and Dynamical Systems; Strongly Correlated Systems; Quantum Control and Engineering in Novel Physical Systems; Quantum Simulations and Computations. The position requires a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related area. All candidates should have the potential to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and to attract external funding for a creative, independent and broad-based research program.
