The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA https://www.pa.ucla.edu) invites applications for a full time faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, in the area of Astrophysical Instrumentation. The department is particularly interested in applicants who will capitalize on the resources and extensive infrastructure of the UCLA Infrared Laboratory (https://irlab.astro.ucla.edu/), a unit of the University of California Observatories (UCO).  During the past three decades, the lab has built and conducted research with several unique instruments for the world’s largest telescopes. Current instrumentation projects include high-resolution fiber-fed spectrometers, imagers, and integral-field spectrometers for both W. M. Keck Observatory (WMKO; http://www.keckobservatory.org) and the future Thirty Meter Telescope (http://www.tmt.org/).  The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and, through UC’s Time Allocation processes, will have the opportunity to apply for observing time at WMKO and Lick Observatory (https://www.lickobservatory.org). The anticipated start date is July 1, 2023 and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
