The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Public Management and Policy (PMAP), beginning Fall 2023. The successful applicant will be expected to teach up to six courses per year (graduate and undergraduate level) in both in-person and online modalities, provide department and university service, and perform community outreach. Course load reductions are available for activities such as special initiatives and administrative responsibilities.

Candidates for this position must bring a strong background and commitment to teaching PMAP courses, including but not limited to governance, urban policy, public management, social entrepreneurship, GIS, policy analysis, and leadership. The successful candidate may have the responsibility of directing the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Social Entrepreneurship.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in public policy, public administration, or a related field by August 2023. The position requires teaching experience, with demonstrated excellence in the classroom through evidence of student learning. Preferred candidates will connect their teaching to community partners and public service careers. This position will be expected to participate in college and university initiatives, such as the expansion of data analysis skills in the curriculum and college-to-career activities.

Located in downtown Atlanta, GSU is one of the country’s top urban public research universities and is a minority serving institution. The department offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, masters and undergraduate degrees in public policy, and a doctorate in public policy. The Andrew Young School ranks 21st among graduate programs in public affairs in the US News rankings. The School also ranks 7th in local government management, 8th in urban policy, 8th in public budgeting and finance, 9th in nonprofit management, 19th in public management and leadership, and 22nd in public policy analysis.
