Schmid College of Science and Technology at Chapman University seeks applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time position of Instructional Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Policy, effective August 2023.

Qualifications:
Required
  • A Ph.D. in the Environmental or Natural Sciences (e.g., Biology, Geosciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science & Management) or a related field. 
Preferred
  •  Broad training in the environmental sciences (with methodological expertise in   computational approaches, environmental justice, or environmental management)
  •  Experience teaching introductory Environmental Science lecture using evidence-based   instructional approaches
  •  Experience teaching an upper-division lecture and laboratory course in Geographic   Information Systems
  •  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  •  Experience designing and teaching upper division course-based undergraduate   research experiences in the natural sciences with connections to social issues 

Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of a lower division Introduction to Environmental Science lecture as well as an upper-division lecture and laboratory course in Geographical Information Systems. Additional teaching opportunities include existing lower-division courses in the Environmental Science and Policy curriculum as well as the possibility to develop general education and upper-division electives in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will be an active participant in program activities and engage with the vibrant community of Environmental Science & Policy faculty and students.

This position is subject to final budget approval. Benefits start the first day of the month following the start of employment. The salary range for this Instructional Assistant Professor position is $75,000-$80,000.
