The Moreno-Hernandez Laboratory is an interdisciplinary group at Duke University focused on advancing renewable energy technologies by understanding the spatiotemporal structural dynamics of nanomaterials with liquid phase electron microscopy. We are actively recruiting motivated and talented postdoctoral scholars to join our team. We are looking for individuals with extensive experience with battery technologies. Projects will focus on the study of ion intercalation dynamics of battery cathodes with transmission electron microscopy, and on the study of solid electrolyte interface formation with water-in-salt electrolytes. We will utilize a combination of nanocrystal synthesis, liquid phase electron microscopy, in situ x-ray and electron spectroscopy, and additional materials chemistry characterization techniques to understand structural transformations with nanoscale resolution. More information about liquid phase electron microscopy can be found in representative publications (see Moreno-Hernandez et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2021, 143, 31, 12082-12089). Minimum Qualifications: Qualified applications must have considerable experience in battery materials chemistry. Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
