The Immunology Unit of Institut Pasteur du Cambodge seeks a motivated bioinformatician to strengthen the Institute’s capacity in bioinformatics. An NIH-funded position will be created to study immune responses to parasite and viral infections. The appointee will become part of a team of 10-12 researchers and will participate in international multi-partner research projects. Additionally, the appointee will have the opportunity to collaborate with IPC’s bioinformatics team in a supportive and exciting work environment. 

The candidate should hold a Master’s Degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer science OR a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree in bioinformatics or computational biology. 

Key responsibilities: 
• Single-cell RNA-Seq data analysis 
• Whole genome sequence data analysis (Optional)
• T lymphocyte and B lymphocyte immune repertoire analysis 
• Management and dissemination of datasets 
• Training young Cambodian scientists in bioinformatics 

Desirable skills: 
• Demonstrable experience in the organization and analysis of genome sequence data in a UNIX software environment. 
• Demonstrated expertise in single cell RNA sequencing analysis 
• Experience in writing code to solve biological problems 
• R/Bioconductor proficiency is required 
• Programming experience in C/C++, Python, Java or PERL is a significant plus 
• Expertise in human immunology is an asset 
• A desire to learn and implement new techniques is essential 
• Excellent communication and scientific writing skills 
• Flexible, able to work in a multicultural environment 
• Inspired to advance research in low-middle income countries 

What we offer: 
• Salary will depend on the expertise of the candidate and includes an expatriate package (health insurance, installation bonus, flight tickets, fringe benefits)
• Full time funded position for minimum 2 years (start date: as soon as possible, before June 1e, 2023) 
• The Cantaert lab is located at Institut Pasteur du Cambodge in Phnom Penh, and offers up-to-date infrastructures (FACSAria Fusion, single cell analysis platform, sequencing platform, BSL3 laboratory) 
• The lab is part of the Institut Pasteur International Network and Centers of Research on Emerging Infectious Diseases Network (NIH)
