Position overview
Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table

A reasonable estimate for this position is between $200,000 to $325,000 commensurate with experience. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Position description

The College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a full-time Mehrabian Endowed Chancellors Chair faculty position at the Professor level. The college is looking for a hire a highly creative and productive faculty member that can serve as a thought leader in the future of manufacturing. The ideal candidate will bridge multiple disciplines and foster synergies between UCSB's existing strengths, such as processing of structural and functional materials, robotics, dynamics, controls and process management. Localized manufacturing to promote economic, social and environmental sustainability is a central area of interest. Related areas of emphasis include but are not limited to: (i) automation, work-flow designs and machine learning for materials discovery and process characterization, (ii) multi-modal data acquisition, curation and interpretation, (iii) manufacturing to revolutionize space exploration, and (iv) the science underlying the impact of global scarcity on manufacturing.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

Qualifications


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related field.

Preferred qualifications

Full Professor at an academic institution or equivalent training and experience preferred.
A demonstrated record of excellence in research and a proven ability as an outstanding teacher are desired. Successful candidates will have a strong record of collaborative, interdisciplinary research, and the proven ability to contribute to advancing and supporting Engineering curricula and student mentoring, and leverage synergies within the College of Engineering, and the campus .
