The Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology seeks applicants for the Charles W.(1955) and Jennifer C. Johnson Clinical Investigator program.

This unique program is designed to create the next generation of physician-scientists whose research and clinical work focuses on human cancer. The program recruits M.D. and M.D.-Ph.D.s who have completed their clinical training and are in the early stages of their post-doctoral research, and provides them with resources to establish an independent research program prior to their search for a tenure-track faculty position. These resources include dedicated laboratory space in the MIT Koch Institute, a generous start-up package, and Principal Investigator status at MIT when applying for Federal and private foundation grants.

Clinical Investigators are expected to spend 80% time performing and directing research at the Koch Institute of MIT, and 20% time at a Boston area hospital, where they have a clinical appointment and practice in a cancer-related clinical specialty. Clinical Investigators are also responsible for organizing the Koch Institute Clinical Oncology seminar series, and are expected to help MIT build the bridge between basic cancer research and the clinical care of patients.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with level of experience. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated track record of scientific productivity and excellence, and a vision for their independent research program in cancer biology, cancer-related biological engineering, or cancer therapeutics.

REQUIRED: Ph.D., M.D. and a clinical appointment in the greater Boston/Cambridge area in a cancer-related clinical specialty. For more information on current and past Clinical Investigators, please visit https://ki.mit.edu/people/clinical-investigators-research-fellows.

MIT is an equal employment opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin. MIT’s full policy on Nondiscrimination can be found here. Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check, including verifying any finding of misconduct (or pending investigation) from prior employers.
