Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (2 positions), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)
The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Departments at the University of Connecticut invite applications for two tenure-track faculty positions, one at the assistant, associate or full professor level and the other at the assistant professor level. Both positions have an expected start date of August 23, 2017. The research specialties of interest are Cryptography, Computer Security, and Security Engineering.

The Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering harbor a rich environment of instruction and research, offering three rigorous degrees (B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.) in the computing sciences and a world-class research enterprise. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and sustain an internationally-recognized and externally-funded research program in the field of Cryptography, Computer Security, or Security Engineering. In addition, the successful candidate at the full professor rank is eligible for the Comcast named chair and directorship of the newly established Connecticut Cybersecurity Center (C3), leading collaborative efforts with industry partners to address the full spectrum of cybersecurity issues.
Successful candidates must also share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of innovative courses and mentoring of students in research, outreach, and professional development. Successful candidates will also be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their teaching, research, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned Doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an equivalent degree in a related field by the time of appointment; an established record of research in computing sciences with a specialty in Cryptography, Computer Security, or Security Engineering; demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching; and a commitment to promoting diversity through their academic and research programs. Candidates must also have a demonstrated commitment to graduate education. Senior candidates must have an established record of leadership excellence.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will possess an outstanding record of scholarship and research contributions in relevant cryptography or security domains; expertise in several areas of Computer Science or Computer Engineering; an established record of excellence in teaching; the ability to effectively communicate with students in both large and small audiences, and a record of public engagement.
Appointment Terms: These are full-time, 9-month, annually renewable tenure track positions. Employment is conditional upon the timely completion of an approved I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification Form). Candidates are expected to begin work on August 23, 2017. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
