|Postdoctoral Associates – Genetics and Genomics of Gene Regulation
The Reddy Lab in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University Medical Center is seeking Postdoctoral Associates to investigate the effects of genetic variation on genome activity and gene regulation, and the downstream consequences for human health and disease. Genome-wide association studies have clearly established that genetic variation that alters gene regulation is a major contributor to disease. A major focus of the Reddy Lab at Duke is developing and applying novel high-throughput experimental strategies to measure the effects of non-coding genetic variation on genomic regulatory activity.
The postdoctoral associate will have a major responsibility in the continued development of these experimental strategies and analyses. The research will also involve completing focused studies of the function of several novel genes recently identified using these types of approaches. The research will rely heavily on high-throughput sequencing and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, giving the successful candidate extensive hands-on exposure to these cutting-edge techniques.
Candidates must have a PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field. Experience with high-throughput sequencing is highly preferable and downstream computational analysis is highly desirable.
The positions are available immediately and will be filled as soon as possible. Appointments will be made on a renewable one-year contract with the expectation of at least a three-year term.
