|Macalester College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics to begin Fall 2017. Candidates must have or be completing a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics. This position has been re-opened to include candidates at the rank of associate professor as well as assistant professor. They must have a strong commitment to both teaching and research in an undergraduate liberal arts environment. We are especially interested in candidates who are enthusiastic to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses, from the introductory to advanced level. Strong candidates will have a track record in the mentoring of undergraduate research.
Macalester offers an attractive environment for mathematical scientists. We offer majors in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer Science. On top of minors in Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, we have recently developed a new Data Science minor. We pride ourselves on our innovative courses, close relationships with several client disciplines, and vibrant record of conducting research with undergraduates. We have an interest in candidates whose work spans disciplinary boundaries. Some specific areas of potential interest include machine learning, causal inference, computational statistics, data visualization, and spatial statistics.
