|The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of German, beginning August 2017. Applicants in the field of modern German literature and culture (19th to 21st century) are encouraged to apply; secondary interests in global studies, gender studies, film and media studies are desirable. Ph.D. is required at time of employment. We seek applicants of broad scholarly promise with a commitment to research and publication who can contribute to intellectual life on campus. Native or near-native fluency in both German and English is required. Commitment to German language instruction at all levels is essential. Candidates should be able to teach a wide range of language, literature and culture courses to undergraduates. An interdisciplinary approach to the teaching of language and culture is favored, as the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the German language major as well as to the Global Studies program. Teaching load is two courses per semester.
