The College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Microbiology at The Ohio State University (microbiology.osu.edu) invites applications for the endowed Rod Sharp Professorship in Microbiology. Applications are sought from internationally prominent researchers with a distinguished track record in molecular microbiology; relevant research areas include microbial cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, ecology, evolution and environmental microbiology.

Applicants should have a productive, well-funded, and internationally-prominent research program to study microbial systems at the molecular level. Successful candidates will be expected to synergize with Ohio State’s existing strengths in microbiology and a culture of academic collaboration to foster cross-disciplinary research with sustained impact. Successful applicants will be expected to maintain an extramurally-funded research program and to contribute to the teaching (graduate and undergraduate) and service missions of the University.

Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related field. Demonstrated research productivity and evidence of an independently-funded research program. Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams and mentoring members of underrepresented groups.
