The School of Education at Boston University invites applications for the position of a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Literacy Education. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising master’s and doctoral-level students, conducting research in literacy, and providing service to the university and the profession, including building positive relationships with local schools and other departments at Boston University. The successful candidate is expected to articulate and implement a distinct research agenda that will make a significant contribution to the national dialogue on effective literacy education for students in PreK-6.
This position begins July 1, 2017. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
The candidate must hold an earned doctorate in reading or literacy education and must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at some level of preK-6 literacy. Applicant must show either a strong record of published scholarship or potential for developing such a record. Preference will be given to candidates whose work has included research and practice in PreK-6 schools that serve students in underserved communities and those whose work is related to multimodal literacies, culturally-relevant pedagogies, or teaching for social justice.
