The Computer Science Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences to begin in Fall 2017. We seek candidates with teaching and research interests in any area of Computer Science. Applicants at all ranks will be considered.
The successful candidate will teach the standard teaching load (currently 4.5 courses per year, which includes labs) at all levels of undergraduate Computer Science and specialize in any area of Computer Science.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2017-2018). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching, including the supervision of student research. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Experience working with, teaching, and/or mentoring diverse groups or diverse students is valued. We actively seek candidates who will foster the diversity of the campus, curriculum, or discipline. Appointments at the Associate level or above require evidence of commensurate scholarship and teaching experience.
The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in sustained scholarly research and/or other creative work appropriate to the position and participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including academic advising and service on committees.
The Computer Science department will have 7 faculty (including the incumbent of this position) with research interests spanning the areas of algorithmic game theory, computer graphics, security, machine learning and more. Our CS majors are enthusiastic and actively engaged in their education, and many of them go on to earn advanced degrees from leading CS graduate programs.
