Visiting Assistant Professor of Design for the Fall of 2017

The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year position in Design at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in the fall semester of 2017. There is a possibility of renewal for a second year contingent on department needs and successful teaching in the first year. Completion of a terminal degree (MFA) or equivalent professional experience is expected prior to the date of hire. The field of specialization is open, and versatile candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: scenic, costume, lighting, sound, and/or video design. The teaching assignment of five courses per year (or the equivalent) will include at least one introductory design course in the candidate’s field(s) of specialization, as well as the design of two departmental productions per year. We especially welcome candidates interested in offering an advanced design course, and in developing an interdisciplinary, cross–listed course in collaboration with the Department of Art and Art History. Candidates may also be asked to contribute to all-university Programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
